Seacoast Local views this as a time for key decisions in our community. The importance of implementing a long-term strategy for a sustainable future is greater than ever, and we advocate that maintaining and promoting local solutions to environmental, economic, and social problems will lead to a stronger, healthier community that can over time build an immunity to the vagaries of national and global markets and pressures. However, the current economic climate puts increasing pressure on local governments and individuals to make decisions based on short term pressures. It's not always easy to cut through the immediate concerns of the present and help people focus on the future.
