Businesses, non-profit organizations and local citizens choose to participate in Seacoast Local for many reasons, but most are actively engaged in an ongoing commitment to:

  • Ensure that our place doesn’t become every place.
  • Support a strong community and thriving local economy with meaningful jobs, a diversity of business owners, successful non-profits, and involved citizens.
  • Increase awareness about the importance of supporting local non-profits, products, services and businesses.
  • Decrease negative impacts on our water, forests and air.
  • Know and do business with others in the community who share similar concerns and values.
  • Collaborate in ways that reduce costs and increase convenience of making environmental and local business decisions.
  • Model sustainable practices for the community.

Join us in our efforts to increase the strength and vitality of our community—to date, more than 170 businesses are participating in the campaign, displaying Seacoast Buy Local window decals, printed brochures, thank-you cards and other educational materials in their businesses, as well as incorporating the Buy Local logo in their own marketing and advertising. Business membership levels are $150 for a basic membership, $300 for supporting members, and $1,500 for underwriters.

Citizen members ($35 or $100) have supported by program by buying local, wearing our T-shirts and carrying our tote bags.

This movement has been featured in several news articles, giving us an opportunity to further spread our message.

We look forward to hearing from you!

  • Seacoast Local is honored that co-founders Karen Marzloff and Tom Holbrook were named 2009 Citizens of the Year by the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce.

Of course, the award was for all of Seacoast Local. In fact, the award officially says, "For extraordinary leadership and effort in creating the Seacoast Local Initiative which promotes and supports local businesses by encouraging people to 'Buy Local.'"

None of this would work without the unflagging support of our local, independent businesses and residents. You can help grow the movement by joining renewing attending an event volunteering

Our mission is to engage local citizens, governments, business and non-profits in rooting more money locally, in order to increase our region's economic, community, and environmental strength.
